In the late 1990s, Tokion commissioned several graffiti heavyweights, including Barry McGee, Phil Frost, Shepard Fairey, KAWS and Misha Hollenbach, to participate in a project as representatives of the new generation and the evolution of the original graffiti movement of the 1980s. This example was created by KAWS and was coated throughout San Francisco in 1999. They were distributed as part of a Tokion guerrilla marketing campaign a long time ago, long before Kaws was what it is today. Most of them were stationed on the streets of San Francisco and destroyed by weather or public works when they were removed.
