Collection: TOBIA RAVA'

Tobia Ravà (Padua, 1959), is a contamporary artist who works in Venice. He attended the International School of Graphics in Venice and Urbino and graduated in semiology of the arts at the University of Bologna. He has been painting since 1971 and has exhibited since 1977 in solo and group exhibitions in Italy, Belgium, Croatia, France, Germany, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Japan and the United States. It is present in both private and public collections, in Europe, the United States, Latin America, and the Far East. Tobia Ravà uses ghematrià (“gimatreya”, letter-number permutation) and the concepts of kabbalah (“reception”, mystical tradition of Jewish thought) to create unique works, in which any element is linked to the others. The peculiarity of his work is in fact in the alpha-numeric texture linked to ghematrià and to kabbalah, that he studies meticulously before drawing on the surface of the work. He recreates the places of reality using a coded language referring to the numbers relating to the transliteration of the 22 letters that make up the Hebrew alphabet, which have an ethical, spiritual and numerological meaning at the same time. His works are therefore based on the correspondences between numbers and words, between the numerical values ​​present in the mathematical sequences and the concepts of Jewish mysticism. With his representations, Ravá proposes an ethical-philosophical path, both ancient and contemporary, for a new ethical interpretation of acting in the world in which we live.
